The smell of freshly baked cookies filled our elementary school in the run-up to Christmas. A joint baking project not only produced delicious results, but also lots of fun. Together, the children, teachers and educators transformed the dining room into a Christmas bakery in the week before Christmas. Rolling out dough, cutting out cookies in various shapes and baking were the tasks. There was lots of laughter, singing and, of course, eating.
The children in Year 3 also performed the play "Cinderella", which they had prepared with great effort and attention to detail in the weeks beforehand. During the project week, many pupils took the opportunity to watch this fantastic performance.
On the last day before the vacations, all pupils, teachers and educators came together in the gym for the final day. They sang together to get in the mood for Christmas. The GTA "the folks" performed their Christmas program with songs and dances and some pupils played Christmas carols on their instruments. Pupils from Year 4 recited a Christmas poem together and to finish, teachers and educators sang for the children this time.
To everyone's surprise, Santa Claus even came by in person with a sack full of presents and asked if the children had always been good.
The calendar year was drawing to a close and it was time to say goodbye to the well-deserved Christmas vacations.
